At UCSD, I am a Principal Investigator at the Center for Research in Computing and the Arts (CRCA). Originally founded some thirty years ago, CRCA is the oldest research unit in the U.C. system focused the intersections of computation and aesthetics.

CRCA faculty and graduate researchers primarily come from the Visual Arts and Music departments, though a half-dozen other programs are also represented.

Among the other reserachers that work through CRCA are Lev Manovich and Software Studies, Miller Puckette, Ricardo Dominguez and BANG Lab, Sheldon Brown and the Experimental Game Lab, Todd Margolis, Ruth West, Micha Cardenas, Tom Erbe, Jordan Crandall, Peter Otto, Amy Alexander, and Brett Staulbaum.

CRCA technical facilities include the Atkinson Hall 4K theater, StarCave immersive virtual environment system, directional and environmental sound labs, the Experimental Game Lab, the black box theater.
